My Wrongs 8245-8249 & 117
Film // Jim // 5th April 2003
Good packaging, lady-bird book with OK Computer scribblings all over it, writing
inside the cardboard slot where the disc goes. Ideal for some Morris
obsessive to tear their copy to bits so that they can prove their devotion
by putting up
on a web site. The film seems to star the character who narrates some of the blue jam bits. The slightly homeless, creepily mad bloke who was invited to dinner with the suicide journalist.
The upshot is that our hero is house sitting for a friend and is being intimidated by the large dobermann that came with the job. After an eventful walk to the park that ends up in tragedy for a local duck, it turns out that the dog can talk. It also transpires that he is a lawyer who will be representing the protagonist at a trial in the imminent future.
The dog turns out to be a bit of a wind up merchant, getting his temporary owner into all sorts of amusing scrapes before winding up under a car. Thats about it really, can’t tell you too much more as I have only watched it once and my copy has been lent to someone else.
The film is surprisingly restrained for a Chris Morris enterprise, especially considering the Blue Jam material he could have chosen to adapt. It’s not bad and is quite amusing in places, my favourite bit is the way that the hero has stopped the goldfish from staring at him.Genius.
The commentary from the runner is quite good as well, very reminiscent of going to watch anything at the Warwick University cinema, with a couple of film students sat behind you..
Worth a punt at £6 especially as it might encourage Warp films to do more of this sort of thing in the future.
