Apologies for the stupidly late notice, but we should let you know that tomorrow night (ie Sunday 2nd) the Informatively named Maggi, Pierce and E.J. are playing at that home for the expensively coiffured and humourously trousered; the Moo Bar in Leamington. You know the place, opposite the car park near the back of Tesco.

MPE band: Nice, cool sticker

The band were kind enough to send us a copy of their shiny and extravagantly packaged triple album a while back, something of a concept job made up of three discs titled Morgen, Mittag and Nacht which the German students out there will have spotted relate to phases of the day.

Morgen is a strummy acoustic, lets all have a hug affair. Mittag is a laid back, harmonised, at times bluesy radio 2 rock/pop collection (of which Music Of the Sea is probably the best example). Then Nacht breaks out the guitars, swearing and slightly surprising discussions of masturbation.

Personally while I found the whole lot tuneful and very well put together it is all a touch on the pleasant side of nice for my tastes. Of course that is not a bad thing, I just need a bit more nastiness and general ineptness to get me going – especially in the morning, maybe playing the discs in the opposite order would do the trick.

Don’t let my feckless rambling out you off though, check out EMP at Moo tomorrow evening, I reckon they will be rather good live especially if they do Kennison off the second disc, which I think is ace. We are likely to despatch some kind of official paper-jam delegation to check things out, assuming the ASBO paperwork is in order. Also big respect for the Government Oppression Despised sticker on the album, top notch.
