Ooooohhh, the passion is just too hot to handle in this film. Hooked right from the start, I was like a blubbering wreck by the time the final credits rolled. And don’t think it’s just some girly Titanic-style tears. This was heart-wrenching, hot flushes, passion passion passion that was almost unbearable…!

It’s not like I can give much of the plot away and I’m certainly not going to start describing scenes, production and directorship (because I know nothing about any of it). Personally, I don’t like to think of Michael Crawford in the part of the phantom because it just doesn’t work for me (but then I haven’t seen it on stage).

Don’t ask me to name the main actors/singers in this film, because I don’t have a clue. But the fact that you’ve never seen them before makes this film work.

Phantom of the Opera: Passion, blubbering wreck

I watched this film during a girly night in, and I think that was the best way. I’m sure the boys can do the same and let their emotions run wild without worrying about acting like a man…Just pay attention to what they’re singing, that’s all I’d say.

The film is fantastic. The set is glorious and grand, the outfits to die for, acting superb (even Jennfer Ellison isn’t too bad, and Minnie Driver as diva Carlotta is brilliant). While you realise the phantom is not necessarily a kind-hearted gentleman you can make deals with, you can’t help feeling for him, that lonely life, desparation and passion passion passion. But it’s the music that makes all the difference and turns what could be a limp romantic disaster into a powerful, passionate piece of genius storytelling.

These aren’t just the ramblings of a girl who’s found her new favourite film. I honestly couldn’t get the film out of my head for days. Just watch it and tell me what you think. Open your mind, suspend your disbelief and I’ll be flabberghasted if you hate it.
